As Khuna got up I tried not to look. Make myself inconspicuous. But she knew I was watching. It seemed to take forever for her to walk to me. I was aware of each and every whisper around us, but none was concerned with us.
Without a word she nodded and moved towards the exit. I stayed close behind her, feeling very uncomfortable with all the people around us.
I was still very much in thought as Khuna and I exited the club. Both of us had left our boys sitting, sleeping in their hidden corners. They would probably have no ill thoughts about us. Only happy, nice thoughts.
Unlike me.
I felt like a predator. It wasn't until after I'd seen Khuna... feed on that boy. We didn't even take that much and they won't even notice. They'll just think the alcohol did it.
If only that would make me feel better.
Khuna poked me in my side. "I wanted you to see it. I know how it feels to you now." She smiled grimly. "That's why we don't kill. We don't take more then we need."
I nodded. "It was so strange, seeing you feed on him, no one even noticed. You could have drained him and no one would have noticed until we were long gone."
Khuna smiled. "Yes, though security camera's and all that makes it a bit hard to ever return there then."
I giggled despite my strange feelings. We walked on more or less nowhere. We had no rush. After all, the night was ours. Slowly I regained my thoughts again, feeling better and better I had a thought. I wasn't entirely sure why. Perhaps something lingering from my dreams. The park.
"I know where to go."
This time it was me who dragged Khuna along. She smiled and just nodded, letting me lead. We head through the streets, first a bit unguided as I was still trying to find my way. But it didn't take long. The streets became more familiar as I got back to the area I knew. Until we reached it. The park.
Khuna smiled as we walked in, sensing this was kind of important to me. And it was. I saw the tree again. The tree I sat in a day ago, I just sat there, watching the other people walking, playing in the park.
I climbed it again, felt lighter then ever now. Khuna followed me slowly, climbing in behind me and sitting next to me as the branches allowed it.
I giggled. "It's kind of ironic. I was thinking, more or less, in that I wasn't interested in boys yet when I sat here yesterday afternoon." I smiled. "And now look at me. I've kissed a boy on his lips and su... drunk his blood."
Khuna nodded besides me.
"It's been a strange two days, and this one has only just begun." I sighed. But it was not a completely unhappy one. It was kind of nice to feel new experiences that were all this intense. Including Khuna's... Her kiss.
"I meant it." Khuna's voice ran through my mind like a hot knife.
I looked at her. I could see that she meant it. All kinds of feelings and thoughts went through me and it was then I realized I still hadn't asked something.
"Do you realize we look a lot like each other?" I didn't know how else to put it.
She nodded. "I did. It was... very strange at first, but it felt as if you... If I could trust you."
I nodded and wanted something to derail our thoughts. "I dreamed of this park tonight. It started on the rooftops somewhere and I was fleeing from someone. I knew who it was in my dream but I can't remember now. It was..."
"All so real?" She finished.
I simply nodded.
A moment of silence. The rustle of the leaves the only sound nearby. The city seemed far and distant. But I welcomed that distance, I longed for it. To not feel part of it for once.
"And you never will, Amy."
Both Khuna and I almost fell out of the tree of surprise. It was the man who I saw in the streets. He stood there, in the light of the lampposts and the moon. We sat there, transfixed, unable to move.
He looked the same like before, but this time I saw more of him. He was quite good-looking. Longish hair I guessed, but it was hard to tell. Clothed were quite old-fashioned but elegant. Expensive probably. His voice, with more words then before was warmer then I'd thought. Calm.
"Khuna, take good care of her. Amy, we will meet here again at a much later time."
And just like that he vanished. I was quite sure I didn't even blink.
Khuna started speaking. "Amy... was that?"
I nodded. "Yes."
