The moment was quite precious. The way Grace had spoken made it seem like she'd only met me for the first time now. It broke the ice and the tension quite nicely. Being with Anka was weird. She'd tried to seduce me once, but had also treated me with an odd kind of respect.
"Eh, nice to meet you, Grace."
She smiled. "You know, I felt really bad for spying on you. I hope you'll forgive me." She used a cutesy look that I was sure she was fully aware about.
"How come I hardly noticed you?"
She smiled. "Well, apparently you can make people believe you're not really there. It's not really invisibility, but it works just as well. Camera's still notice you though."
Anka giggled. "Yeah, we've had some fun time trying out the limits of that one."
Grace blushed severely, I didn't know what to think.
"So, you've learned a lot in this past year?"
Anka nodded. "Yes, I haven't given up on school yet though. This is something I want to learn a lot more about, but I've been very careful not to attract too much attention. Unlike you."
"I haven't been that bad, have I?"
Anka turned around and got a newspaper, the headline spoke about a businessman committing suicide. Of course that was too big of a deal to get past unnoticed. They were calling it suicide though, so no implication towards me. And no one knew I was there. Well, except these two.
"It doesn't mention me, does it?"
She smiled. "No, but it's not exactly subtle, is it?"
I hung my head a little, I felt like my mother was telling me I'd done something wrong and would send me to my room.
Grace giggled. "It's not that bad, you stayed unnoticed. And we kind of know you didn't push him or anything."
"Thanks." I still felt guilty though.
Grace smiled. "So... can I ask her?"
Anka shrugged. "You can try, but it's probably not the best time."
I looked up curiously.
Grace went back to her calm self. "Remember way back when you met me? Anka had told me never to let you kiss me. She said you were a vampire and though I do trust her, I had trouble believing it. But now you're here and you're really you." Her voice so calm and cheerful. "Would you kiss me?"
I looked at Anka. "You told her how it felt for you?"
Anka nodded. "And it is something to experience once, in a way. I know you won't go to far."
Grace knelt politely in front of me, offering me her neck after her white hairs were brushed aside. "Take me." She spoke in an almost teasing but cute voice.
I did.
Feeling uncomfortable because Anka was watching, but urged by the thirst, I bit the girls neck and smoothly pierced her skin with my teeth. The blood flowed richly with a dark sweetness. She was so innocent and yet not ignorant. She just let the world happen as it did. It was blood that made my heartbeat rise.
But her memories.
I tried to let them pass me by, not flashing in front of my eyes, but they still did. Things she had done with Anka, things I would have preferred not to see because of the intimate nature of them. She carried them in her mind with a fond pride. It was a little too explicit for my taste to see things like this. Partly because they didn't feel very long ago. My nostrils were filled with the intimate smells of their bodies.
But the blood kept me going.
Her blood was very full, warm and sweet. It was given to me eagerly with every heartbeat and despite (or maybe because) of the displayed memories, I felt a sweet feral tension in the air. I knew Anka was watching, probably enjoying this in her own way.
Until I released.
Grace whispered one word. "Wow." before she slumped a little bit forward.
She was a little groggier than I had originally intended. But her blood had been so tasty. I caught her before she fully fell over and carried her up to the sofa itself. Anka walked forward and took her legs to help her lay down. She wasn't unconscious, mumbling soft things while she was moved. But she swiftly fell asleep as soon as we released her.
While Anka got a blanket and covered her with it she said only one thing. It was something that I'd tried not to think about the whole time I'd been here. And not just in Anka's house, but the whole time I'd been in Mareana. To keep myself from going back too easily.
"You know, Hitori misses you."
But Amy already knew that.
