I woke with a smile, it was odd waking with a strangely warm body next to me. I didn't really lie against her, just facing her with her arm on my back and mine on hers. It was sweet and very precious. I wanted to know if she was already awake and tickled her side softly. She didn't respond. An evil grin flashed across my face and I pinched her side just below her ribs, knowing it would tickle a lot.
"Aaah! Stop it!" Khuna laughed.
"Aah, so you are awake." And pinched her again just for the sake of it.
Khuna squirmed, wiggling in the sheets and laughing, trying to fend my hands off. Unfortunatly she managed to get my sides as well, and not being used to being tickled I'd never learned to relax and let it pass. She had me where she wanted. I squirmed and laughed and fell backward out of the bed, trying to get away from her evil fingers.
"Okay, okay, you win!" I laughed.
We got up, still smiling. It felt good to be playful again as it seemed so long ago since I had a good tease. Why was that? I loved teasing and being teased, but I didn't have any siblings and the people from school felt 'too old' for stuff like that. They were already seventeen or eighteen and didn't 'do things like that' anymore.
I liked it.
Both of us got dressed and Khuna gave me a kiss on my cheek before going upstairs. I felt really rested and ready to face the day. We made our way into the living-room and smiled as Kai was there on the sofa, sitting ready for once and not behind his computer.
"Got everything?" I giggled as I saw a backpack that didn't look very full.
Kai smiled kindly. "Good evening to you too. And yeah, I don't need much as I can remember a lot just by studying, so no maps or anything." He grinned.
I guess that made sense, it was almost common for me now to remember vivid details about everything that happened but I failed to realize it must be the same for them as well. Kai and Khuna didn't display their abilities very often but I had a feeling it wasn't because they didn't want to. They didn't need to use them, barely even thinking about them anymore. That's why their changes have been so weird for them. They're so used to what they had that anything new becomes more apparent.
"Eh yeah, good evening." I giggled as I got back from my cloud. "So what did you bring with you?"
Kai winked. "That's a secret. You'll see in time."
Khuna smiled and sat down as well. "So are you going there directly or get something to drink first?"
I blushed a little. "I think it's better if I drink first." I still felt uncomfortable talking about it, but I guess we had to.
Kai nodded. "Alright, then we will find something simple."
"Have fun kiddies" Khuna smiled broadly.
Kai got up and walked to the door, me in tow. We went outside and jumped down, Kai glancing at my movements with interest and surprise. We walked the same way as I did two nights ago, to the pubs with slightly older people. I wondered why...
"Do you mind if we go this way?" Kai smiled apologetically.
Something nagged at me. "Why?"
Kai blushed. "Well... I find older women more interesting. And they like young guys so it gives me an interesting chance."
I laughed despite myself, Kai looking at me a bit worried. "I'm sorry, it's just nothing to be ashamed of. I mean, with all the experiences you've had you're way older than your 'age'."
Kai smiled. "Yeah okay."
It was really funny to see Kai insecure. Usually he's so in control... But only inside of his world I guess. But aren't we all guilty of things like that. I mean, I don't know anything about computers or cars, or elevators or most mechanical things. The only things I really knew were distant fantasies...
A thought came from nowhere: 'And your body.'
I had no idea where the thought came from but it was a nice thought. We walked on to the pub, not too far away. Little worries crossing my mind like little fireflies and fading into the dark abyss of my thoughts. There wasn't much to worry about until we reached the orphanage.
We arrived at the pub, and it was a classy Jazz club. Quite nice actually, the music coming from inside obviously played by a decent band. The atmosphere, even outside, was just one of relaxed enjoyment. People weren't here to make trouble or really make out. Just music and a drink. A common goal.
We went inside.
