Chapter 236Eleven Edicts

The city glided beneath me as I swiftly flew from the office to Hitori's house. It'd only taken me forty-five minutes to get all this done and I felt positively beaming with energy. In fact, it was almost like a fire was burning within me, ready to burn anything that got in my way. I flew fast and direct, not taking any detours.

But I had to calm down a little.

Scanning the street, I landed safely and walked to Hitori's door. After taking a deep breath to calm down, I rang the bell and waited.

Footsteps on the stairs, Hitori's. He opened the door and smiled as he saw me standing here.

"Amy, you're back!" He hugged me firmly.

I smiled and hugged him back. "Just to deliver something."

Hitori frowned. "Well, come up at least, Nuru's been lonely on her own."

"Is Anka gone already?"

He nodded. "She took the flight today, don't you remember?"

"I do, sorry. It's been a busy night."

He looked at my blood-filled blush but wisely didn't say anything about it. "Alright, come on up."

I followed him up the stairs and was let in the apartment. To my surprise (kind of), Nuru jumped up at the sight of me and hugged me immediately. She really appeared to have missed me and it wasn't nice to tell her what I was about to do.

"Amy, I'm glad you're alright! I had the most terrible dream, that a demon was hunting you and tried to eat you!"

I blinked. "Maybe that's not far from the truth, Nuru."

Hitori gasped behind me. "What do you mean?"

I sighed. "Well, I'm going to fight another vampire tonight. It's one of the group that killed Rain's sister and parents."

Hitori looked deep into my eyes. "What are you planning, Amy?"

I hesitated, but... I couldn't lie to him. "We need to stop them. So we are going to. Me, Kai, Khuna and Valerie."

Hitori wanted to speak but didn't. He thought for a moment and looked at me with, probably, many thoughts on his mind. He sighed a little but treated me to a smile regardless. "Alright, I support you. I know I can't do anything, but I won't stand in your way."

I smiled. "Thank you."

Nuru hadn't let go all this time, she looked up at me and softly asked. "Will Miss Amy be alright?"

I smiled at her. "I will do my best, Nuru. I've got strong friends to help me. Can you stay with Hitori just a little bit longer?"

She nodded. "Is little Rain safe now?"

I nodded. "Afentis will protect her."

She smiled and let me go, so I finally could do what I wanted to do here, besides the obvious hugging of both of them. I started undoing my necklace and bracelet, feeling strangely naked without the feel of their metal on my skin, when I got an idea of where to keep them. I got that bag with the stuff from the Silver Abbey still somewhere around here.

I thought I'd left it in the corner of the living-room but perhaps Hitori had cleaned it. "Where is the bag with the book and stuff in it?"

Hitori blinked. "Oh, that should be underneath my desk in the bedroom."

He went to the bedroom and took a while before he got out. I knew it was gone before he even started to say the words.

"It's gone, isn't it?"

He nodded. "But I have no idea where... Oh no..."

I blinked. "Where?"

"Anka..."
